66 PARKVILLA’S CHASSÉ
Breda (NL)
The Chassé Park is a residential area with approximately 600 owner-occupied and 100 rental properties, located in the center of Breda. It is located on the nearly 13-hectare former barracks site on the edge of the Breda city center.
This location in the city center received a lot of attention, partly due to the urban design. The Chassé Park has the layout of a campus. The campus vision for this area was formulated in 1996 by Rem Koolhaas and Xaveer de Geyter. The project received the status of a national model project in the year 2000, as an example for the theme 'living parks and squares'.
The Chassé Park is a green area with commercial and cultural spaces at the edges. For the 66 Parkvilla's realized, St. Joris Ceramic Industry supplied the glazed hand-shaped bricks.
